United States Coast Guard

The Coast Guard is responsible for the U.S. Maritime Defense Zone, countering potential threats to America's coasts, ports, and inland waterways through port security, harbor defense, and coastal warfare operations and excercises. Every day, the U.S. Coast Guard works to prevent acts of terrorism, violations of multinational fisheries agreements, attempts to smuggle drugs, and a flood of undocumented migrants fleeing their country of origin in boats.
