CoCo Communications Corp. Earn FIPS 140-2 Security CertificateSeattle, WA (May 13, 2009) – CoCo Communications Corp., a leader in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) and radio interoperability, has announced that the CoCo Crypto Module has earned FIPS 140-2 validation. FIPS 140-2 is a security requirement for all information systems used by federal agencies. CoCo is the first MANET provider to earn this validation, with certificate #1021. This FIPS 140-2 validation enables federal agencies to use CoCo’s products to provide secure networking across mobile and fixed devices running Windows XP, Windows Mobile, and Linux. The FIPS 140-2-validated CoCo Crypto Module is embedded in all CoCo products, including its flagship CoCo Node networking software, radio interoperability products, and mesh routers. “Our customers in homeland security, federal agencies, and first responders have told us that government-certified, secure communications are critical. CoCo’s FIPS 140-2 certificate represents our commitment to maintaining compliance with federal mandates across all of our products. Our product roadmap ensures that we will be compliant with this and other standards in the future and will keep us at the forefront of both networking technology and government certifications,” said John DeFeo, CEO of CoCo. The Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requires that all U.S. federal information systems comply with the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) maintained by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). FIPS 140-2, Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules, is the NIST standard for cryptographic products and solutions. A complete list of all FIPS 140-2 validations is located at http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/STM/cmvp/documents/140-1/140val-all.htm.
